Matt Grier! 2025 Guest Speaker!
Matt Grier has been a sailing coach since 1999, and taught everything from basic dinghy up to yachtmaster. (He’s been sailing since he was 4 years old, competing at the highest level until 2001 when his career kicked off)
Since 2007 he’s specialised in Paralympic Sailing where until 2017 he was the RYA Paralympic Development coach in charge of everything from beyond Sailability up to the future potential to go to the games along with support for those who did.
Andy Cassell a double amputee, born with one above and one below won the first Paralympic Gold in sailing back in 1996. The ‘Andrew Cassell Foundation’ was born to support others to have the same opportunity which it has successfully done since.
In 2017, Matt teamed up with Andy to take on the foundation and instead of aiming to compete for a Paralympic Games, our aim now is to focus purely on the pathway and true inclusion he was shown in his career.
We look forward to welcoming Matt to UKFSC 2025, he will be sailing in one of the teams and then giving a talk at our Gala Dinner!
