Captain Emma tiller to speak at UKFSC Gala dinner
We are excited to announce this year’s after-dinner speaker is Captain Emma Tiller, Inspector of Marine Accidents at the UK Governments Marine Accident Incident Branch (MAIB).
Captain Emma is a well-respected name in the maritime industry, with a career spanning over three decades. She began her journey as a cadet in Trinity House, one of the first cadets on its Merchant Navy Scholarship Scheme in 1989. Her dedication and hard work led her to serve on various vessels, including crude oil and product tankers, LNG tankers, passenger vessels, fast craft, and Ro-Ro ferries on both deep sea and coastal trades.
With her vast experience in the maritime sector, Emma moved ashore in 2000 to expand her skill set. She gained valuable insights into port and terminal operations, Vessel Traffic Service (VTS), and fleet management, which further enhanced her knowledge and expertise. Her commitment to continuous learning and growth earned her a position in the Marine Accident Investigation Branch in 2009 as an Inspector of Marine Accidents.
As a Lead Inspector, Emma has investigated over 30 cases, spanning the merchant, fishing, and leisure industries in the UK and worldwide. Her thorough investigations have helped to identify causes and prevent future accidents, making the seas safer for all.
Throughout her career, Emma has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, and her contributions to the maritime industry have been significant. Her commitment to safety and excellence is evident in her achievements and the respect she has earned from her colleagues and peers.
